BSAFEeay FAQ v0.1

What is BSAFEeay?

BSAFEeay is a free, Open Source implementation of RSA
Security's BSAFE Crypto-C API, using the SSLeay cryptographic library.

What do you mean by free?

BSAFEeay itself is free, Open Source, code. For specifics, read the accompanying COPYRIGHT file. To use BSAFEeay, you must obtain SSLeay, a free crypto library.

BSAFEeay is NOT a product of RSA Security.

Why did you use SSLeay and not OpenSSL?

When BSAFEeay was first written, OpenSSL did not exist. The BSAFEeay maintainers welcome patches that will enable BSAFEeay to utilize OpenSSL instead ofSSLeay.

How do I get started with BSAFEeay?

To use BSAFEeay you need the following:

BSAFEeay

SSLeay

Which packages work with BSAFEeay?

SETREF

You must know what you are doing and be comfortable with compiling source code and figuring things out yourself. End-user SET support will not be offered by the maintainers. Generic SET questions will be completely ignored.

For generic set questions, refer to Visa's web site or the two SET related mailing lists:

set-dev@terisa.com
set-discuss@lists.commerce.net

Other applications that expect to be linked against BSAFE Crypto-C may or may not compile or interoperate with BSAFEeay. Patches are welcome.

How do I contact the authors?

The authors can be reached at bsafeeay@cypherpunks.to. Comments, suggestions, and bug reports are welcome.
